These are the musicians at the heart of Balijazz. Between them, they've played at Java Jazz, Blue Note Tokyo, Quebec Music Festival, and stages across Southeast Asia. In Bali, they play like they're home — because they are.
Kevin Valencio Suwandhi
Piano · Keys
Kevin started playing jazz at nine, and hasn't really stopped since. He went on to study at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York on scholarship — playing alongside names like Ari Hoenig and Cameron Brown. Back in Bali, he brings that depth to every room he plays in.
Bernard Zulfredo
Saxophone
An honours graduate from Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta, Bernard was a member of the Asian Youth Jazz Orchestra, touring Southeast Asia and Japan. He's been mentored by musicians from the Blue Note Tokyo All-Star Jazz Orchestra — and now calls Bali's music scene home.
Reno Joshua
Drums
Reno came up through rock and classical guitar before finding his voice in jazz at Institut Seni Indonesia Denpasar. His final project — a composition blending Western and Balinese instruments — says a lot about how he thinks about music. He brings that curiosity to every performance.
Sandy Winarta
Drums
Sandy's resume is the kind you read twice. Blue Note Tokyo — twice. Quebec Music Festival. Kuala Lumpur International Jazz Festival. Collaborations with Grammy winner Charlie Haden and Indonesian legend Indra Lesmana. He studied at The New School in New York, then came back to Bali and kept playing.
Sinuksma
Double Bass · Founder
Sinuksma founded Balijazz in 2020 with one idea: give Bali's best jazz musicians a home to play from. A double bass player who's shared the stage with Indra Lesmana and Aksan Sjuman, he holds the band together — on stage and off it.
